This weekend I hosted a pot luck dinner with the girls. It was a really fun night with lots of food, wine and good friends. I made sure it was a traditional pot luck so no one was allowed to discuss what they were going to make, but it worked out well with no overlapping dishes and everyone made such delicious food.
1. Gold and blue flower headband.
Crafted up this little headband this week. I am obsessed with blue and gold together at the moment.
2. Natasha Khan.
Singer from Bat for Lashes. She has such an incredible and unique style that has been a favorite of mine for many years. She inspires me to have fun with accessories. Connected in spirit as it seems we both have a huge love for gold!
3. Home made indoor teepee.
Oh my goodness aren't these things so cute and cozy. Cannot wait to make my own.
4. Native Indian inspired head dress.
I imagine I will be making a few of these over the next few months to get ready for summer days.
5. New Look. "The Ballad"
This Canadian hubby and wife duo is a new fave of mine. A similar feel to Bat For Lashes which is why I chose it for the song of this week. The video is pretty beautiful as well. Cool article about the band here
Here are my top 5 picks for the up coming New Zealand Film Festival. I look forward to this festival every year. Films make me happy.
1. Moonrise Kingdom.
There has been a lot of hype around this film. Wes Anderson (co directed by Roman Coppola) directs a cast consisting of some really wonderful actors including Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton and Jason Shwartzman.
Plot: Set in New England, two smitten youngsters decide to run away together causing their family and neighbors to go on an epic search for them.
2. Shut Up and Play the Hits.
A lead up to the final performance of LCD Soundsytem at Madison Sqaure Garden in April 2011. LCD Soundsystem! I need say no more.
3. Beasts of the Southern Wild.
This film is set in a fantasy world where enviromental changes have released an army of prehistoric creatures called aurochs. A six year old girl, Hushpuppy goes in search of her mother. Watch the trailer, it is breath taking.
4. Le Tabelau.
French animation. Such a magical and imaginative treat that I am so looking forward to seeing. Watch the trailer.
5. No.
Set in Chile in 1988, No stars Gael García Bernal as René, a
‘creative’ at an ad agency… A smoothie young enough to skateboard to
work but experienced enough to have ruined his marriage… René is
approached with an unusual thing to sell. After 15 years of military
rule under Pinochet, and responding to global pressure, Chile is going
to have a plebiscite to continue, or end, the dictatorial era of rule
that began with a bloody coup d’état lead by the
General-turned-President in 1973. And René is asked to run the campaign
for the ‘No’ side.

These pictures are beautiful and warm and something to look forward to. Don't get me wrong I really LOVE winter, but today I woke up and wanted it to be sunny. These pictures are inspiring and oh so pretty.
I have a fresh vase of lavender sitting on my desk and I bought a new MAC lip colour... well technically it's a lip and cheek colour called 'Evening Stroll'. I am very much in love with it and it is a moist consistency so it doesn't dry out your lips as other lipsticks sometimes do.
Here is me in the new lippy wearing a mauve blouse that once upon a time belonged to my Grandma.
I look super awkward in most of these photos, was having a weird, cannot pose properly, kind of hour. My mum snapped the last one of me while she was telling me about what she was going to get at the supermarket hence the thinking face. I ended up using it because it shows of the colour of the lipstick well.
While I was having a purple day I thought I may as well go all out and
paint my nails too. The colour I used is from the Revlon range
and is scented so it smells delicious like gum drops, which is probably
why the colour is called 'gum drop'.
