1. Blouses. I've been buying pants! This is worth sharing because I don't usually wear pants, but it's winter so I made a choice. Therefore, I needed to buy more tops and I am personally a real big fan of the blouse. Over the years I have collected so many from my Grandma, op shops etc etc. There are so many around at the moment in all price ranges. I'm really loving all the plain ones that good old Glassons has at the moment but I also found a really beautiful one by Salasai.
3. Emily Browning. Flip this girl is cool. She is an amazing actor, she can sing and she has great style. I felt she was so genuine in Sleeping Beauty and portrayed Violet well is Lemony Snickets A series of Unfortunate Events. I'm quite inspired by her casual meets preppy school girl style.
4. Where is my mind? You know how I said Emily Browning can sing, well here is the proof. This is a remake of the Pixies song, Where is my Mind? It's from the movie Sucker Punch, it's a sad and Beautiful re do of one of my favorite Pixies songs.
5. Horseradish by Lemony Snicket. I had this book for years but then must have lost when I was moving flats some time ago. It's a hard book to find but I have managed to track one down and am happy to have it back on my shelf. It is full of witty and cynical musings on life. A nice coffee table book.
So obsessed with Stella McCartney's Spring 2013 ready to wear collection. It's so amazing, words really cannot do justice to how I feel about. I love the leopard, I love the blue and I really need to get my hands on those yellow retro print shorts.
I guess I have been trying to wear more colour lately. I have a bad habit of wearing black, or well, it's kind of a good habit. I love black. But lately I have been trying to branch out a bit and I have been learning that I really like Pink, a light blush, shades of green and all Autumn colours ( hues of oranges, yellows, and mustard).
Ingrid Starnes, a New Zealand designed and made label, has been very inspiring for this.
1. This Must Be The Place.
Sean Penn is an eccentric, bored, ex-goth rocker who sets out to
find his father's tormentor, an ex-Nazi war criminal, in this
award-winning comedy-drama featuring a soundtrack by Talking Heads'
David Byrne. I love seeing an actor take on such an eccentric role, over the years I have really begun to appreciate Sean Penn.
2. Talking Heads.
Following on from the film is a song from one of my all time favorite bands, this song is called Girlfriend is Better and the live video is from their Stop Making Sense album. My friend bought me this live DVD for my birthday and I watch it oh so often. Byrne's used to be a total nutter who took all sorts of drugs, he is so entertaining to watch.
3. To continue on the posts theme for today, my person of the week is Tina Weymouth. She is the bass player for Talking Heads and also started a band as a side project with her husband (Talking Heads drummer) Chris Frantz, called Tom Tom Club. Remember that song by Mariah Carey Fantasy, well the sample used in that song is from Tom Tom Club's Genius of Love, and yes it is genius.
I am so inspired by her style, cool and effortless.
4. Coloured Tights.
I love wearing tights, I wear them all through winter because I'm not really a jeans or pants person, so I'm wearing them a lot in winter under dresses and sometimes its nice to wear a bit of a color. Seeing Tina Weymouth wearing those bright red stockings and looking freak'n cool inspired me. I am also kind of inspired by this 90's cult film called Heathers with Winona Ryder. All the girls match their tights to their outfits. I don't think I'm quite that extreme but I do love the blue on Winona.
